History and Development

The history of Heidegrund dates back to the early 1990s.
In 1992, the Wendeln-Brot Group acquired the expansive property, on which a restaurant with hotel rooms and conference facilities was initially built. Step by step, the initial destination for day trips evolved into a sports and conference hotel that primarily attracted nature, golf, and active vacationers.

The hotel has been managed by owner Alexander Wendeln since 2009.
Following extensive renovations, the Heidegrund reopened in 2010 under its original name, “Hotel Heidegrund.”
Since then, the hotel has undergone continuous development—with a keen awareness of its history and an openness to new ideas.

Today, the Heidegrund is one of the region’s leading hotels and event venues, combining tradition with a modern approach to relaxation, wellness, and conference and event services.

Sustainability at Hotel Heidegrund

Fichtenhaus
Our 48-room “Fichtenhaus” wing was built using resource-efficient timber construction.
As a natural building material, wood provides efficient insulation, reduces energy consumption, and creates a noticeably warm, cozy indoor climate.
This is how we combine modern architecture, high comfort, and a conscious use of resources—nestled in the natural surroundings that define our Heidegrund.

Natural Swimming Pond
Our natural swimming pond is one of the special highlights at Hotel Heidegrund.
Without any chlorine or chemical additives, clear water is created here through a natural interplay of plants and filtration systems.
The swimming experience is peaceful, unspoiled, and close to nature—while at the same time creating a vibrant habitat for plants and microorganisms.

Energy Efficiency
With our photovoltaic system and combined heat and power plant, we are committed to an energy-efficient and forward-looking energy supply for our hotel—and are thus making an active contribution to the responsible use of energy.

Electric mobility

By providing our own charging stations for electric vehicles, we encourage sustainable travel and offer our guests added convenience. At the same time, we are already committed to e-mobility within our company and are actively integrating electric vehicles into our fleet.
